Become compliant with FHDDS in the UK

Dear Selling Partner,

If you are a non-UK established seller sending inventory to Amazon UK’s fulfilment centres, you need to provide the Import Entry Numbers (IENs) related to those goods shipped to Amazon UK’s fulfilment centres.

Under the Fulfilment House Due Diligence Scheme (FHDDS), Amazon is required to maintain a record of any IEN provided by you, among other VAT- and customs-related information. FHDDS requires Amazon to notify HMRC if it knows or has reasonable grounds to suspect non-compliance with UK VAT or customs obligations, and Amazon may need to stop providing fulfilment services to you in respect of your goods.

What is an Import Entry Number (IEN)?

IENs are allocated by UK Customs authorities when goods are imported into the UK. The IEN is issued to the customs declarant, which may be your logistics agent or freight forwarder. If you are using a freight forwarder, they should be able to communicate the IEN to you.

How much time do I have to enter my Import Entry Numbers (IEN)?

You will have 60 days after first receipt of the shipment in an Amazon UK’s fulfilment centre to go to your Shipping Queue on Seller Central and add any IENs for your shipments. After this time, the IEN status will indicate closed for editing, and while you will still be able to view your IEN entry, you will no longer be able to edit it.

Where do I enter my Import Entry Numbers (IEN)?

You will be able to enter IENs for shipments already created that are not in closed, deleted, or cancelled status. On your Shipping Queue page, you will see an IEN status next to each shipment subject to FHDDS, indicating whether the IEN entry is complete, incomplete, or closed for editing.

You can click on the IEN status to open a box where you can either enter IENs corresponding to the shipment or indicate that you do not have IENs for the shipment. Once you save your IEN entry, the IEN status will indicate "complete". If you do not provide an IEN, you will be prompted to provide a reason for that.
