Hello, |
2020 has been one of the most successful years for sellers in Amazon’s stores, even with the obstacles presented by the COVID-19 pandemic. From April 15, 2020, to January 15, 2021, independent third-party sellers – almost all small and medium-size businesses – increased their Amazon sales globally by more than 55% year over year. And we are working hard and investing heavily to help you continue this success.
In 2020, we increased square footage across our fulfilment and logistics network by 50%, opening dozens of new delivery stations and fulfilment centres around the world. We built more than 250 tools and services globally to help you manage and grow your business, and improved Seller University courses to guide you on how to use all of these new tools and services effectively. We also recognised the uncertainty the COVID-19 pandemic has created for small businesses, and as announced on December 22, 2020, we made the decision to postpone our annual fee adjustments until June 2021 to provide stability and support through what we expected would continue to be a challenging period.
While many other companies passed along costs through surcharges and fee changes in 2020, we absorbed over $5 billion in COVID-related costs on your behalf, and are absorbing billions more globally in the first half of 2021. To further benefit our sellers, we also implemented reductions to certain fees and expanded promotions in 2021. In addition, we enhanced benefits for the FBA New Selection programme and launched the fulfilment of heavy and bulky selection on FBA.
Starting June 8, 2021, some of our fees will be adjusted in our Amazon Europe stores. Most referral fees will not change, and we are making only moderate increases to fulfilment fees. See below for highlights of fee changes and visit the Seller Central links to learn more about the complete list of fee changes for 2021.

- Car & Motorbike: We will decrease the referral fee from 15.3% to 9.18% on the portion of total sales price above £45 to enable growth for your business. Note fees for devices and accessories will remain unchanged at 7.14% and 12.24% respectively.
- DIY & Tools: We will increase the referral fee from 12.24% to 13.26% to align with other similar categories.
*The referral fee threshold will vary as per the applicable digital services tax in the country of sale.

Fulfilment by Amazon fee adjustments and new services
- Fulfilment fee: We will adjust the fulfilment fee across local FBA (including Small and Light), Pan-European FBA and the European Fulfilment Network and eliminate the packaging weight adjustment in our rate card to reflect the changing costs of fulfilment, transportation and customer service. We will also decrease the per-unit surcharge from €0.50 to €0.35 for sellers who ship from fulfilment centres in Germany and do not participate in Fulfilment Network Expansion (Central Europe Programme).
- Optional services fee: We will update the optional services fee for removal orders, disposal orders, prep services and the FBA manual processing fee to reflect the changing costs of these services.
- Liquidation service: Starting May 2021, FBA Liquidations will be available to all sellers for Amazon stores (excluding the United Kingdom, Netherlands, Poland and Sweden, until announced otherwise) to help you recover value from excess and customer-returned inventory. We will introduce a fee for liquidation service starting June 8, 2021.
- Multi-Channel Fulfilment Fee: We will reduce the fee in certain size tiers for the UK, effective April 26, 2021. Fee adjustments for Germany, France, Italy and Spain will be announced later in the year.

Previously announced 2021 fee reductions and promotion
- Returns processing fee: Effective March 1, 2021, we reduced the returns processing fee for Clothing, Shoes and Handbags to 50% of the fulfilment fee. We eliminated the returns processing fee altogether for customer-returned products in the Jewellery and Watches categories.
- Referral fee promotion on Clothing, Shoes and Handbags: The referral fee promotion, which reduces the referral fee from 15.3% to 7.14% on the portion of total sales price greater than £40 for Clothing, Shoes and Handbags sold through FBA and Seller Fulfilled Prime, was originally scheduled to end on April 30, 2021. This promotion has been extended until March 31, 2022.
- Cycling accessory referral fee: Effective April 1, 2021, we created a new category for cycling accessories, with a reduced referral fee of 8.16% compared to 15.3% for other sports products. The referral fee threshold will vary as per the applicable digital services tax in the country of sale.
- Heavy and bulky fee: Effective April 1, 2021, we have also opened FBA to heavy and bulky products, which are products larger than 175 cm in length or heavier than 31.5 kg, in the UK, Germany, France, Italy and Spain. These products have separate fulfilment fee rates.
- FBA New Selection programme: Since April 2020, sellers have qualified for applicable free storage, removal, customer returns processing and inbound benefits on eligible standard-size ASINs. Given the positive feedback, starting April 1, 2021, we have extended programme benefits to include both eligible standard-size and oversize ASINs, remove the 500-ASIN limit, and enhanced storage and removal benefits for Clothing, Shoes and Handbags. The programme now also offers sponsored ad credits for eligible sellers. The FBA New Selection programme applies to Amazon stores in the UK, Germany, France, Italy and Spain.
